FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT CIRKIDZ
Q. What will my child do, exactly, in a Cirkidz class?
A. Heaps of stuff, but most importantly, have a great time! Check out the list of skills we teach in the Circus School.
Q. What should my child wear to a Cirkidz class or workshop?
A. Comfortable, close-fitting clothes. Track pants, shorts, leggings and fitted tee shirts are ideal. No jeans, skirts, belts, buckles, zips or dangling straps. All jewellery and watches need to be removed, so we recommend leaving them at home. All hair that is long enough to swing in front of the face needs to e tied back.
Q. Can my child come along and try it out for one session to see if they like it?
A. Sorry, no. For safety reasons we do not allow participants who are not enrolled in a class. Also, perhaps more importantly, children and young people at various stages of their development learn from their peers just as much as their teachers and trainers, therefore we endeavour to keep the number of students in a class consistent throughout the term for better quality of experience.
If you would like to give Cirkidz a go without committing for a full term, we suggest you come along to a Holiday Program, which run on selected dates during most school holidays. Call us to find out when the next one is scheduled.
Q. Where can I buy a set of juggling balls to practice at home?
A. Cirkidz sells a range of circus performance equipment, including juggling balls, clubs, rings and scarves; poi; flowersticks; diablos; and unicycles. Some items require a lead time to order – contact us to let us know what you’re after.
Q. How do you get into Live Wirez or the PerformingTroupe?
A. Entry into the Performing Program is by invitation from the Artistic Director. You need to have been enrolled in a Cirkidz Circus School class for at least one term.
Q. If I miss a Circus School class, can I do a makeup class?
A. As long as there is availability in the makeup class and if it is made up in the same term. You need to check availability of places with the Program Coordinator.
Q. The class I’d like to get into is full – does Cirkidz have a waiting list?
A. We certainly do; contact the Program Coordinator. First priority is granted to those students already enrolled in that class who have re-enrolled by the end of that term.
